Our Philosophy
Our Lady Queen of Heaven School Early Childhood
Center is dedicated to the spiritual, moral, emotional, intellectual, social,
and physical growth of each young child. Young children learn by active
involvement with their environment. Children use the senses of touching,
tasting, listening, smelling, and looking when exploring the world surrounding
them. Children learn more through meaningful play than pencil and paper tasks.
Children in play form the foundation for later academic learning.
About Us
-
Our Lady
Queen of Heaven School Early Childhood Center is licensed by the State of
Louisiana as a Class "A" Child Care Center, 6 weeks through 4 years old. The
Center is open from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday and observes
major holidays.
-
OUR HISTORY:
The Center located at 3901 Kingston Street, was opened at the beginning of
the 1963 school term primarily to take care of the children of the lay
teachers working in Our Lady Queen of Heaven School. In the summer of 1987
the Early Childhood Center was enlarged and remodeled. In the fall of 1989
the center was enlarged again to accommodate infant care. In the fall of
1991, the Early childhood Center found a new home at 3903 Creole Street,
formerly the nun's convent, as Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish made room for
the retirement center, Villa Maria.
-
The goals of
our childcare program are to make each child feel comfortable, loved, happy
and special, to feel secure with our teachers and other children in an
environment which is safe and clean.
-
Quality
childcare requires planning activities that promote the total development of
children. To achieve the goal of total development, we provide activities
planning at Our Lady Queen of Heaven School Early Childhood Center that considers all of your child's daily needs, such
as physical activities, social and emotional development, and cognitive and
intellectual development. In our development program are outdoor play, indoor play, meals, and naps.
We are flexible in how your child spends each day, but we need to keep in
mind that these basic activities are essential to healthy mental and
physical development.
